Questa raccolta di problemi ed esercizi mira a soddisfare le esigenze di formazione statistica e probabilistica dei corsi universitari erogati in facoltà scientifiche. La raccolta di esercizi, in massima parte di taglio applicativo, si rifà alla trattazione teorica fornita nel testo “Metodi Statistici per la sperimentazione” di Grazia Vicario e Raffaello Levi e si articola, seguendo una collaudata esperienza didattica, in gruppi di problemi ripartiti per argomento. Ogni capitolo contiene esercizi sia interamente svolti, utili per rendere fruibili le metodologie statistiche nelle applicazioni, sia corredati dal solo risultato numerico, allo scopo di mettere alla prova le capacità’ acquisite dallo studente. In alcuni casi alla soluzione con applicazione delle metodologie fornite nel testo viene affiancata quella ottenuta con il software Minitab (State College, PA, USA, www.minitab.com); in altri casi ancora, data la complessità computazionale, viene riportato solo l’output ottenuto con il pacchetto statistico. Un commento dei risultati ottenuti e dei grafici prodotti viene comunque fornito, in modo da agevolare la comprensione delle conclusioni suggerite da quelle analisi.

This book has been written to provide to students the opportunity of acquiring the ability to use the most common statistical methods in order to afford advanced elaborations and working knowledge of the most popular techniques among the experimenters. Practical problems that frequently occur are used as exercises in order to enlighten limits and features of the proposed methods. Transferable skills are to supply statistical tools to analyze experimental data. Traditional exercise sessions, practical problems, and case studies complement lectures provided in the book “Metodi Statistici per la sperimentazione”, authors Grazia Vicario e Raffaello Levi.
In each chapter, there is a list of important formulas, theorems and rules to be used for the solution of exercises in it. A number of exercises are thoroughly solved with detailed passages; other are accompanied by the numerical results, in order to test the student’s acquired skills.
We thank Minitab software (State College, PA, USA, www.minitab.com) for permission to use commands and outputs from the Minitab package, in order to make the students able to interpret and discuss software outputs, particularly when dealing with Analysis of Variance and Covariance and with Regression Models (exploratory data analysis, parameters estimation, check of the quality of the estimations, prediction).
